Ah, the feel of autumn is in the air as the kids have gone back to school, the nights are getting a little cooler and fall sports have begun.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a Cougar, a Mountaineer or a Charger (we can’t forget Bath County).
We all need to support these kids, no matter what sport they play — whether it’s football, volleyball, cross country or golf — or whether they are focused on their academics or are involved in some form of the arts.
As I write this week’s column, there’s a great deal of disappointment in Clifton Forge, as the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad had its hopes for a new squad facility squashed by the town planning commission last week.
From my discussion with a member of the squad, the plan will still go before Clifton Forge Town Council, which can override the planning commission’s vote; but, from what Councilman Jeff Irvine has told the squad’s leadership, council will probably vote to uphold the commission’s ruling.
