LOW MOOR — The Alleghany County School Board will meet Monday at 6 p.m. at Clifton Middle School.
Under community participation, the board will recognize:
— CMS students who earned perfect scores on 2017 Standards of Learning tests.
— Blue Ridge Lumber Co., CVS of Covington and Northwest True-Value for being named to the Virginia School Boards Association Business Honor Roll.
— Above and Beyond the Call of Duty Award winners: Cindy Fox, Jerry Morgan, Crystal Wimmer.
— Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Educator of the Year finalists: Lindsay Westervelt, Alleghany High School; Lisa Hansford, Clifton Middle School; Kim Fix, Callaghan Elementary School; Lisa Bryant, Mountain View Elementary; Stephanie Harmon, Sharon Elementary School; Kim Fix, Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Educator of the Year.
The board will hear comments from Bob Umstead of the Alleghany Education Association.
Under budget and finance, the board will receive data on March 31 average daily membership.
Under superintendent’s reports and recommendations, the board will discuss:
— Calendar information. — School improvement. — A report on a nutrition program. — An update on the One-to-One Computing Initiative. — A local plan for career and technical education. — Approving a special education advisory committee. — Information on scoliosis screening. — An annual plan for special education. — An annual renewal for local assessment. — An update on maintenance and capital improvements. — An invitation for bids on roofing work at AHS. — An invitation for bids on roofing work at Sharon Elementary. — An invitation for bids on room modifications to rooms at AHS in preparation for New Tech. — Entrance security at Alleghany High School, Clifton Middle School, Mountain View Elementary and Sharon Elementary.
There will be a closed session to discuss: Personnel matters, student matters, real property and school safety reports.
