Bath County Murder Trial To Be Heard In Staunton

WARM SPRINGS — The murder trial of a Bath County woman accused of killing her six-year-old daughter will be heard in Staunton.

The trial of Darla Elizabeth Hise, 27, was moved to Staunton Circuit Court after a mistral was declared Aug. 22 in Bath County.

A judge granted a defense motion to move the trial after an effort to seat an impartial jury in Bath County Circuit Court was unsuccessful.

The case was scheduled to be heard by a jury in Staunton Circuit Court on Oct. 23.

However, Hise is being represented by a new attorney and the trial date will be rescheduled.

Hise is charged with first-degree murder in the Feb. 4 shooting of Abigail Grace Hise in their Hot Springs home.

Hise also faces charges of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a Schedule I or II drug and possession of a gun with a Schedule I or II drug.
