Alleghany County School Board OKs Land Acquisition Near AHS

LOW MOOR — The Alleghany County School Board has approved the purchase of land to expand student parking for Alleghany High School.

Acquisition of the 5.78 acres was approved Monday.

The school board met at the Central Office Complex in Low Moor.

The land, which is adjacent to Jackson River Technical Center, will be purchased from Garten Developments for $49,130, or $8,500 per acre.

The school board approved buying the property 6-1, with Todd Persinger voting no.

Persinger is the school board’s Clifton Forge West District representative. The land is former property of the Alleghany Country Club.
