RICHMOND — Father David Nott, former priest at Shrine of the Sacred Heart in Hot Springs, died Sunday following a brief illness.
Father Nott was born on June 13, 1948 in Eugene, Ore.
He graduated from the University of Oregon in 1977 with a bachelor of arts degree in music. He attended the Gregorian University in Rome, Italy, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in sacramental theology in 1990.
Father Nott was ordained to the Catholic priesthood by Bishop Walter Sullivan on June 26, 1993, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond.
He was a priest of the Diocese of Richmond for 23 years. Father Nott served Shrine of the Sacred Heart from 1995 through 2002.
Father Nott served the Diocese of Richmond Tribunal from June 25, 2007 to April 2017. He also served as vice chancellor from 2012 to 2017.
Father Nott is survived by his mother, Alicia Nott, of Eugene, Ore., and his brothers, Nick Nott of Eugene, Ore., Mel Nott of Junction City, Ore., and Ron Nott of Santa Maria, Calif.
